Journey North Tulip Investigations
As citizen scientists these first graders will be tracking changes in seasons and climate. We will participate in the global climate study using tulips to track the onset of spring. We will join with students in schoolyards across the northern hemisphere to plant tulip bulbs in our Journey North Test Gardens this fall. When the plants emerge and bloom, we will announce springtime in our part of the world. Our tulips arrived November 2nd. After weighing, measure, graphing and comparing the sizes of the tulips, we planted them on December 10th. Thank you to Mrs. Carmen and all the family members who came to help.

They then made a grid on a piece
of poster board. Each partner
learned how to read coordinate points on the grid/map.
Partners took turns hiding paper clips for the other partner to find using Magno Bird.
They made several flyovers and reported back the coordinates of the hidden paper clips.
